Mountain Vision was formed in 1993 to minister to Appalachia's needy children and their families with food, clothing, household items, as well as Bibles and Sunday School materials.
This ministry has a unique partnership with various Christian fellowships and denominations. We all pull together for the common goal of serving our Lord Jesus Christ and "Feeding His sheep".
We sponsor trucks of food through a local Christian relief agency. Mountain Vision is currently sending four semi-loads of food (approx. 140,000 pounds) annually as well as three semi-loads of clothing and household items. Since 1993 we have delivered over 4 million pounds of food in the name of Jesus to feeding centers in West Virginia, Kentucky, as well as in southeastern portion of Ohio.
Each Christmas we provide Christmas gifts and Bibles to over 1900 needy children and their families in three Appalachian communities, along with a truckload of food to each location. Clothing and other essential items are donated to Mountain Vision. Then these donations are sorted and boxed for shipping by volunteers from various churches in preparation for delivery.
Many of the areas we visit have actual unemployment rates approaching 50 %, even prior to the economic crisis that began in 2009. Mining is the very depressed main industry, and no other industry has filled this void.
If God puts showing love to Appalachia's children on your heart, join us! Together we can give them hope.
'Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison, and visit you?'
And the King will [say], 'I assure you, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!'
